Cleaning Energy In Springtime
In this podcast Pia and I talk in more detail on emotions and the benefits of cleaning at this phase in the calendar (Chinese New Year) from the transition phase (Earth) between winter (Water) and moving into springtime. The Wood phase of course is related to liver energy which desires to expand in every direction and grow. We discuss how we have been seeing more clients with Liver related problems such as shoulder tension, migraine headaches, irritability, anger and dizziness. Many people do not understand why they are feeling more irritable etc., at this time of the year.
We discuss in detail the gentle yet extremely powerful nature of abdominal acupuncture in the treatment of emotional disharmony. The Liver can also put on this external protective armour, like an armadillo. This armour can be reflected on the abdomen which can feel extremely tense. In such cases patients can feel very protective and vulnerable about exposing their abdomen. This protective armour can be like a double edged sword. While it benefits us in one way, it can have negative effects in other ways. We talk about specific cases where we have seen profound changes with clients within moments of them receiving abdominal acupuncture. There can be a huge shifts in emotional energy. This can present as tears, sighing, a complete change in the breathing pattern and a postural shift as the whole body relaxes.
At this important juncture in time it is so important to acknowledge our emotional state in order to enable ourselves to allow our emotional energy to flow in a natural way. Abdominal acupuncture has such a powerful influence on the emotions. It is important to inform your clients what they may expect to feel after an abdominal treatment. We highlight this with a couple of cases. I discuss one case of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the powerful effect abdominal acupuncture treatment had on changing the emotional dynamics enabling the person to make very important changes to improve their quality of life.
