The Spleen / Stomach are Earth elements in Traditional Chinese Medicine. They are at the centre of the five elements / phases and they are the organs most effected in the season of “Late Summer” and during the change over transition phase from one season to the next. The magical (the He Tou & Lou Shu) number boxes which gave rise to concepts of Yin:Yang and 5 elements and the BaGua also position the number 5 at the centre as it represents Mother Earth with its nurturing & regeneration function.
In this PodCast we discuss ways of protecting and nurturing the Earth elements during these times.
We discuss the unique position of the abdomen and specifically abdominal acupuncture points in treating the Spleen (Pancreas) / Stomach and describe various treatments that can be used to achieve these goals of nurturing the organs of transformation and transportation!
By maintaining a strong and healthy Spleen / Stomach all other organs benefit as does Blood, Qi and Essence. We look at various conditions that are commonly seen in clinics throughout the Late Summer season, including digestive problems such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Muscular and Joint problems such as Arthritis and other Damp conditions like Muscular Sclerosis (MS). Dampness can manifest in various guises and we discuss how to clear the Damp using Abdominal Acupuncture for problems such as urinary tract infection (UTI). Low energy, sluggish, heaviness and related problems such as oedema, low concentration, lethargy are also manifestations of Spleen / Stomach problems and these are discussed here too.
We also talk about the wonderful and extremely powerful technique of opening the Abdominal Meridian System (AMS) in order to nurture the Spleen, Lungs and Kidneys and thus harmonise and balance the Zang Fu organs, whilst also having a profound effect on immunity and hormonal balance, enabling one to have a smooth transition from one season to the next.
